Power-Detox Post-Holiday Drink To Get Rid Of Bloating And Holiday Weight Gain in 4 Days

Whether you are vegan or not, the holidays are bound to put some stress, extra bloating and a few pounds on you (that is if you truly enjoy them).

I often read myths like, eating plant-based over Christmas and New Year’s will not get you bloated or cause you gain weight. Of course, the mere fact you are not clogging your arteries with extra amounts of animal fats makes the holidays a much healthier experience for us vegans. We are humans, though, and there is nothing wrong with being more indulgent this time of the year – attending parties, visiting family and friends contributes to us simply eating MORE food, and possibly more sugar (even if it’s in the form of non-processed vegan cookies, cakes and other vegan delights). This means that the mere AMOUNT of the healthy foods we are eating would likely cause some bloating, water retention and gain weight.

And I wholeheartedly embrace that! I believe there is nothing wrong in having a few times of the year when you just relax and share a wonderful experience with your loved ones! And nothing can ruin a great Christmas dinner more than someone counting their calories!

Good news is, we don’t need to go on an eating splurge for months – the most ‘intense’ holiday eating time is just for a few days, and we can quickly ‘fix’ any damage caused.

Here is an amazing plant-powered detox drink that will relieve bloating, help you get rid of water retention and lose those extra few pounds just in time for New Year’s so that you can fit into that little black dress!

  • 8 glasses of water
  • 1 tsp grated ginger root
  • 1 medium-sized cucumber, peeled and cut into slices
  • 1 medium-sized lemon cut into slices
  • 12 fresh mint leaves and 1 tsp dried mint

Cut and peel the cucumber first, then cut the lemon on slices and mix all the ingredients in a bowl.
Leave the mixture to infuse overnight in a fridge.

Consume 4-5 glasses of the drink the next day – start with a glass in the morning before breakfast for best results.

For best results, gradually decrease the amount of delicious holiday foods you are eating and include some light exercise into your daily routine. You will be feeling fresh, energized and a lot lighter just in time for New Year’s when you can keep going on your delicious healthy plant-based diet!
