Crisp Vegan Gyro Salad With Dairy Free Tzatziki Sauce

I love eating salad as a main dish during the summer! It is completely, utterly enough to get me satiated and fully nourished in these hot days! Plus, it’s so much easier to sleep at night when you’ve had a light dinner.

The ‘cherry at the top’ of this delicious recipe is the dairy free tzatziki sauce! It gives this vegan salad the delish twist that makes it an absolutely mouthwatering summer meal!


  • veggie burgers
  • 2 bags of romaine lettuce, chopped
  • 1 can of coconut cream
  • 1 cucumber, shredded
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 tbsp of fresh dill, chopped
  • ½ tsp ground black pepper
  • ½ tsp sea salt
  • ¼ tsp cumin
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp thyme
  • ¼ tsp coriander
  • Artichoke hearts
  • Sliced cherry tomatoes
  • Chopped black olives
  • Chopped red onion


To make the dairy free tzatziki sauce, take a can of coconut milk and strain the liquid. Place 1 cup of the cream only into a small mixing bowl. Add lemon juice, chopped dill, ground pepper, a pinch of sea salt and ¼ tsp of the following spices: cumin, nutmeg, coriander and thyme. Mix the cream and spices together. Then, use your hands to squeeze some of the water out of the shredded cucumber and add to mixing bowl. Toss all ingredients together and place in the fridge to chill while you cook the veggie burger patties.

You can get store-bought burgers, or make a batch of these and freeze them to have at all times!

Cut burgers into 1.5″ pieces.

Assemble your salad base with the chopped romaine lettuce, cherry tomatoes, artichoke hearts, black olives and diced red onion. Then, add your “gyro meat” and a dollop of tzatziki sauce!

Optional: Squeeze lemon over the top for extra flavor.
