With 987% Increase In Veggie Meals Demand, Veganism Is Set To Be The New Food Craze In 2018!

A new study, conducted by takeaway service Just Eat gives us some news to be totally thrilled about!

Their report details that 2017 saw a whooping 987% increase in the demand for vegetarian options, and now 33% of all Just Eat restaurants are catering for vegan and vegetarian needs.

Just Eat Marketing Director, Edel Kinane said:

“The results from this year are a good insight into the future consumer trends and while convenience will continue to be key for consumers next year and beyond, we know that they are increasingly looking for more diverse, healthy, gluten free and plant based vegan options”.

The food and delivery service also outlined that the prediction is partially due to to an increase in demand from image and health-conscious consumers, who are social media-savvy.

They have added that demand for healthy choices generally grew by 94% in 2017,

compared to 2016 while gluten free options increased by 72%.

This is all accompanied by the predictions of various media outlets, claiming veganism is going fully mainstream in 2018!
