LAD Bible has reported that this year Prince Harry will not be participating in the traditional boxing day hunt, as has been announced by ‘a royal insider’.
The prince has made the decision, so as not to upset his fiancée Meghan Markle, who is an outspoken animal rights activist, and has been seen to consume vegan meats, though not on every occasion.
As revealed by the Sun, the royal insider said: “The Boxing Day shoot was always going to be a tricky issue.
Meghan is a keen animal rights campaigner and doesn’t like hunting in any form.”
“Harry loves it and has always been out there on Boxing Day. But if it means breaking with long-standing royal traditions to avoid upsetting her, so be it. It’s fair to say that there are some pretty stunned faces around here.”
And this is not the only royal tradition that was broken this year!
Meghan has been spending Christmas day with the Royal family, although only married couples should be allowed to do so. This exception was not even made for Prince William and Kate Middleton, when they had to spend Christmas apart in 2010. The Queen has said to have made the compromise, as the wedding is only five months apart.
Hopefully more people will choose compassion over tradition in the future!
