Looking for a healthier (and kinder) alternative to chicken wings? Try these juicy, tangy, and spicy buffalo cauliflower “wings”!
Deliciously versatile and with just enough “kick,” these bite-sized pieces of cauliflower offer an eerily similar experience to eating chicken wings. With all the flavor and none of the guilt, this is a secret-weapon recipe that every vegan cook should have in their kitchen.
The key to making good cauliflower bites
is getting that perfectly golden, crispy exterior. Without it, forget it. You’ll basically have soggy cauliflower that is soaked in hot sauce, which is so not what we are going for here. In order to get the most crispy cauliflower bites possible, this recipe is prepared with cold water rather than non-dairy milk. While the almond milk versions aren’t bad, they don’t crisp up quite the same as the ones with water for one reason or another.
These bites are best eaten after they have had a chance to set out for bit at room temperature
Whether you’re enjoying this dish as an appetizer, a main dish, or a party one, it’s guaranteed to ignite taste buds!
What you’ll need for this recipe are:
FOR THE BITES:
1 cup flour of your choice
1 cup cold water
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 head cauliflower, cut into bite-sized florets
FOR THE SAUCE:
2/3 cup hot sauce
1 garlic clove, minced
3-4 tablespoons agave nectar
2 tablespoons oil of your choice
