If you love playing dress-up, then Halloween should be one of your favorite holidays!
I personally believe we should all call the child in us from time to time and really give into the fun that comes with role playing. What’s best is that you can use the spooky holiday to spread some vegan awareness and love! I would suggest, though, that you do so in a way that would open up friendly conversations rather than get people to think your costume is a bit too aggressive.
Like this one for example:
Surely, it passes on a message, but I believe it may come across as a bit too weird, crazy, and ‘over the top’. Remember the Peace Love Vegan Pledge? Let’s be the positivity and kindness we want to see in the world and more people will be willing to recognize themselves with veganism.
Here are 11 Clever & Original Vegan Halloween Costumes With A Message That’s Not Too Pushy
Whose skin are you in?
I love to start with a message that’s sexy too, because it is something everyone pays attention to! Plus, you get to show it all off – a healthy veg body, spreading awareness on how animals are being used and abused for egoistic human purposes!
With a homemade sign and some very carefully applied cruelty-free bodypaint, you can show some of your own skin and make that same statement! Your sign could just read ‘Whose skin are you in?’ if you like to make it sound friendlier, but that’s all up to you!
Here’s an original idea few people would think about!
There’s no better cosutme for a vegan girl than Elle Woods who advocates against animal testing in the sequel of Legally Blonde! Who wouldn’t love Elle Woods’ go-getter attitude and how she fights to keep animals out of labs, exposing the harsh lives they face when tested on. Elle’s ultimate girly-girl look calls for lots of pink and lots of prep.
Here’s another creative, original idea that’s super fun as well! Dwarfs are cute magical creatures, who guard the Earth’s treasures underground. And aren’t vegans, advocating for animal lives not guarding the Earth’s creatures and treasures! I think I just chose my Halloween costume, and I will surely make a sexy version of it again 😉
Mr. or Ms. Spock
The Star Trek character Mr. Spock was the first vegetarian character on television. Mr. Spock is from the planet Vulcan where his logic-based civilization chooses not to eat animals.
For those who don’t know, this is a large herbivorous dinosaur living at the end of the Cretaceous period. Spread the message some of the strongest, biggest creatures on Earth are vegan! Through your pet… 😉 Or not
How fun is this bunch of grapes costume? All you have to do is blow up purple balloons, and hot glue them to a purple shirt. Throw on a green beanie, and you are all set.
Wretched Ronald McDonald
OK, this one is a bit spookier, but I do believe it gives some good food for thought without going over the top! This sicko plays cute to the kiddos, but behind the scenes, he is responsible for the largest mass murder of chickens ever. Every day, thousands of birds have their throats slit and are tossed in a tank of boiling water, often while still conscious!
Because kids make the cutest cows, don’t they?
